In June of 1967 the Rotary Club undertook the issuing of a history of the Village and Community as a Centennial Project. The following committee was charged with the book's production: Dr. Bruce Halliday. James H. Francis. Pres. Henry Hallam, Eric G. Loveys, Treas. Howard Zimmerman, Bulletin Editor Carl J. Seltzer.

The first estimate was for a volume of 100 pages; a display of materials was made at the 1967 Fall Fair to introduce the idea to the public. The interest shown encouraged the Committee to proceed. The chairman and the editor were authorized to find a publisher. The Haynes Press of Cobourg was finally selected on the basis of a fine book they had produced for Gravenhurst.

With the collection of fact and fiction from many sources, the book in rough form grew to 120 and then to about 180 pages. The Committee agreed to the increase in size and recommended an increase in price from $5 to $6; 1500 copies were to be ordered. Some $1900 had been raised from members and other subscribers, so that it would be necessary to sell some 950 copies at $6 to take care of the cost.
