Epilogue

In the ruins of Pompeii may be seen a wall-painting of a youth, who fell in love with his own image. Narcissus is pictured as a beautiful young man admiring himself in a limpid pool. His self-love led to his destruction.

We have extolled our ancestors; now let us, as valiant souls, behave. The prospect before the men of Tavistock and Ontario and Canada is one to command enthusiasm.

Let us not be dazzled by our Past, dismayed by the Present, nor fearful of the Future.

Disraeli has said: It is the past that can explain the present and the youth alone that can mould the remedial future, for the youth of a nation are the trustees of posterity.
