- Founding of Hickson with coming of Pt. Dover to Goderich Rwy.
- Suggested name of "Harwood's Corners" rejected in favour of Hickson, in honour of Sir Joseph Hickson, General manager of G.T.R.
1880
- T.J. Loveys bought site near tracks; built house of Earl Hostetler.
1882
- Court Welcome 323 built Forester's Hall.
- Beginning of Strathallan Cheese factory with 90 patrons, doubled the next year.
1885
- John B. Tree built house east of Lovey's home - did butchering
- New white brick school built
1898
- Frame barber shop by Joseph Brown.
- T.J. Loveys donated land for township hall and community shed.
- S.T. Loveys built feed store, later added turnip waxing-plant, Bank of Commerce and weigh scales.
October 28, 1897
- For Sale: Lot 27, Con. X - 100 - acre farm, convenient to Strathallan Cheese Factory
July 21, 1898
- Stonework of G. Burton's house is finished, ready for the brick.
- John A. McDonald of Manitoba, son of Dave McDonald, 10th Line was engaged as teacher.
January 12, 1899
- Butter factory is kept very busy, the output being 3/4 ton weekly. It is expected patrons will realize about $0.09 per 100 lb. of milk besides getting the skim-milk back.
February 10, 1899
- The Farmers' Institute resumed its meetings.
- Spring Creek Cheese Co. has ordered an Alpha Separator with the intention of joining the Strathallan Co. during the winter months.
1900
- T.J. Loveys sold site for chopping mill to D.R. Ross of Embro
1901
- The church, formerly Methodist, moved from Strathallan.
June 18, 1902
- The Strawberry Festival on Monday night was well attended.
September 25, 1902
- R.A. Webber shipped a car of apples out to Winnipeg on Wed.
- The first marriage in the new Methodist Church took place on Wednesday at 2 p.m. when Miss Millie Tree became the bride of Mr. Varden of Woodstock, the ceremony being performed by Rev. Mr. Sheridan and Rev. Mr. Marshall of Woodstock. The congregation gave them a Bible.
October 23, 1902
- The Strathallan Circuit of Methodist Churches included itself and Hickson and Hebron, with total receipts of $15,000.
- The church was the scene of the Epworth League convention.
November 27, 1902
- Dr. Campbell is at present in charge of the St. Thomas Hospital but will come to Hickson in January of next year into H. Mark's new building.
December 25, 1902
- Rev. Walter Sheridan united in marriage at the home of Samuel King, Miss Cora King and Mr. Henry M. Glaves.
January 14, 1903
- The annual meeting of the Strathallan Cheese Butter Mfg. Co. was held at the factory in Hickson. A total production of 223 tons of cheese was reported with:
Total Milk 473,059 lb.
Milk per cheese lb. 10.62 lb.
Milk for butter 1,126,814 lb.
Butter made 52,303 lb.v
Milk per lb. butter 21.54 lb.

1903
- T.J. Loveys built a blacksmith shop, used by Mr. Knight, Tom McKay; sold to T.S. Russell - remodelled into service station in 1938 by Warren McKellar.
June 4, 1903
- Hickson Football team played Braemar and Spring Creek Teams.
July 16, 1903
- The Methodist Church now has two bells, one on the church and one in the church. The one in the church rings true and is pleasing the congregation very much.
1904
- New station opened - previously T.J. Loveys sold tickets and had the post office.
March 23, 1905
- Hickson makes the township council an offer of a site and $400 to locate the township hall in the village.
March 22, 1908
- Telephone installations have been completed.
May 20, 1909
- East Zorra Council gives a grant of $225 to build the sidewalk from the Station to the 12th Line.
1916
- Cheese factory sold to Canada Milk Products.
1917
- Tom McKay built Blacksmith shop, later taken over by Wm. Schroeder.
- 12th Line Baptist Church moved by R.G. Nichol and occupied by Meyers Hardware store until 1924.
1925
- Garage across road from church built by Alfred Welch; owned in turn by Mr. Morton, S.T. Loveys, and Harry Sanderson since 1927.
1931
- Cheese factory sold to Borden's.
1936
- Rail line closed from Hickson to Tavistock Junction.
1940
- Dr. Feick left practice in Hickson
1941
- Gerald Campbell added cold-storage and egg-grading station to home built by father in 1919.
1962
- Hickson station closed - Wm. Lambourne, last agent.
1963
- Station moved to Lot 16, Con. 11, by Fred Alexander.
1965
- Line Abandoned from Hickson to Woodstock.
- The Hickson School was sold in 1966, having been vacated in 1965, when the section became a part of the East Zorra Township School Area and the new area school was built at the east end of the village. |
