The funeral of the late Fred W. Ratz, who succumbed to Spinal Menigitis at Naperville, Illinois, which he contracted at the Great Lakes Naval Training Station, was held from the family residence, Decew Street, Tavistock, on Thursday afternoon, January 2nd, at 1:30 o'clock. Deceased was a student at the North-Western Theological College, Naperville, III., later enlisting in the American Navy. He was an adept and enthusiastic athlete and a baseball player of no mean ability, having played on the village nine on different occasions, and was also a very good hockeyist. He was also a pony trainer.
