Comments: He was ordained into the ministry of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, here in Tavistock on August 20, 1920, and since that time had served parishes at Port Arthur, Fort William, Duff, Sask, and Delhi and some 15 years ago went to Mitchell where he served at Grace Lutheran Church until retiring in August of 1960. Very active in the church, the late Rev. Woelfle founded a successful mission at Simcoe in 1940, and in 1944 organized a congregation there. He was a member of the Spiritual Counsellors of the Ontario District LWML; he assisted in writing and editing the history of the Ontario District for its diamond anniversary, and served on the centennial committee; he was a member of the board of education of the church; he was a Visitor in the Lake Erie and Stratford District, and was a member of the appeals committee and the historian of the Ontario District.
