Comments: Moved German war prisoners out of Quebec City [they complained under the Geneva Convention] and moved in Harry's unit. Weather was so cold they had one hour of outside duty and wore balaclavas; water froze in pails immediately. Experienced air raids in London. One day an incendiary bomb exploded on the pillow he slept on the night before. One English couple gave him a fresh egg (virtually no fresh eggs available at the time). Now enjoys playing pool. Given a watch by Men's Club and Board of Trade of Tavistock with inscription "H. Schaefer, Tavistock 1946"
