Robert G. Murray (18??-1939)

Son of pioneer West Zorra farmers Mr. and Mrs. William Murray who came to Canada from Sutherlandshire, Scotland. He married Christine Meadows in Sept. 1888 and following the marriage farmed in his native Township until his first retirement to Tavistock in 1905, the year Mrs. Murray passed away. He lived in Tavistock 2 years before farming on the 13th line of East Zorra until coming to Tavistock for a well-earned retirement in 1920. He was a member of council in West Zorra, Reeve the year the County buildings were erected at Woodstock; Reeve of Village of Tavistock (1924-24-26); s staunch Conservative, member of Harrington Presbyterian Church before church union, then to Knox Church, Tavistock. 

Died at his home on Hope Street West on May 20, 1939, buried at Harrington Cemetery, West Zorra.

Surviving are William of New Hamburg; Mable, Myrtle, Harriet of Toronto, Eva at home, Mrs. John Pfeiffer, Tavistock.
