Henry Schaefer (1800-??)

Born in Hessen, Darmstadt, Germany.

Took an active part in the early wars. Mr. Schaefer is the man who erected the first log house in this place on the lot where Mr. T. Dryden's house now stands. He assisted the surveyors of Huron District under teh oversight of dr. McDonald, civil engineer, in 1829 and 1830, and helped to lay out plans for the building of Woodstock, Stratford, St. Marys and other places. (Tavistock Gazette, September 17, 1903)
