Born at Strathroy, Ontario a son of Joseph and Annie Cawthorpe.
Later moved to Thamesford and attended Ingersoll and Woodstock Collegiates.
1898 obtained medical degree from University of Toronto post graduate work in London and Edinburgh, England. 2 years in San Antonio, Texas, U.S. also in Tiverton, Hensall and Parkhill, Ontario.
Moved to Tavistock in 1908.
Special interest in obstetrics and anaesthesia.
Member of Village council, school board, coroner for Oxford County, Medical Officer of Health for Tavistock, North and South Easthope Townships, and a member of Zion Evangelical Church, Liberal.
Sept. 27, 1936 died at Brantford General Hospital.
Two sons - Joseph and Robert; sisters - Mrs. Maude Smith, Thamesford; Mrs. Helen Nasmith, Thamesford; Mrs. James Flath, Oshawa; brothers Albert, Vancouver, B.C.; and Lorne, Hanover.
Married Jean Dick, Hensall on September 27, 1907.
