Born: March 12th , 1890. Kingston on the Thames, England.
Died: November 6th 1917. Passchendaele, Belgium, Killed in Action.
Enlisted: February 29th 1916 in Woodstock, Ontario.
Comments: Came to Canada at age 11 yrs. Leaving Liverpool in 1902 on the Ship Dominion to Portland, Maine, Arriving April 6th 1902 with Dr. Barnardo's Party, Destination Ontario with a group of 199 children including his older brother Fred. Both he and his brother worked on farms near Tavistock, later moving to Woodstock where Fred opened a bakery. Herbert worked for him until Fred went to Tavistock. Herbert secured work as a carpenter. He was a Member of and a faithful worker in the East End Mission and a popular member of the local Y.M.CA
Buried: Passchendaele, New British Cemetery, Zonnebeke, Belgium.
