REV. AND MRS. JOHN N. WETILAUFER
Rev. and Mrs. John Wettlaufer came to Cut Knife from Ontario with their infant daughter Doris in 1920. John was a brother of Mrs. Werner Wettlaufer. In Ontario he was a minister in the Evangelical Church. Due to an accident at the age of three he lost the sight of one eye. He was finding so much study quite a strain and thought a complete change would be good. He worked for a time in Wettlaufer's garage but during the winter months in those years the garage business was practically nil. Their first son, Ward, was born in the Cut Knife hospital in 1923. Six other children were born after they returned to Ontario. John returned to Ontario and to the ministry. Their trip back to Ontario was made in a Model T Ford touring car, and with two small children they camped along the way. It was no small undertaking at that time with no marked highways and few campgrounds, if any. John died in 1958 and his Wife Priscilla lives in Dunnville, Ont.
