Comment: Tavistock Gazette September 12,1918 - Woodstock, Ontario · Mrs. Geo Hulme, Mill Street, Woodstock has received word of the death in action, on August 26th of her husband, Lance Sergeant George Hulme. Lance-Sgt. Hulme left here with the 71st Battalion in March 1916. He went to France with the 73rd Battalion and had been there two years ago last August. He had never been previously wounded. Prior to enlisting he was employed by the Bain Wagon Company. He also worked for some time in the employ of George Kirk before enlisting. He had been a resident of this city for four years, having come here from Tavistock, where for eight years he was employed with the Tavistock Milling Company. He came to this country some thirteen years ago, from Manchester, England. Besides his wife and little boy, he is survived by three brothers, Joseph, a returned soldier at Stratford, who enlisted with the 71st, William in England, who has also received an Honorable Discharge from the army, and another brother still at the front.
