Comments: Lorne was an excellent bowler receiving many trophies and awards. He was very close to his brother, William, and his sister, Irma, and their children. He and Doris were Godparents to many nieces and nephews. In his later years, he returned to Tavistock and resided at Bonnie Brae Nursing Home.

Lorne Schaefer, of the Oxford Rifles, above, arrived in England the forepart of this month. He was born on June 28, 1916, at Lot 20, concession 4, South Easthope, a son of Mrs. Charles WeitzeI and the late William Schaefer, and as a lad attended school at SS. No.8, and later the Tavistock Continuation School. Prior to enlisting he was employed at the Windsor Bedding Company of Windsor, and upon enlistment was stationed first at London, and later trained at Prince George, B.C. He has one sister, Mrs. J. M. Darroch. (Irma) of Windsor, and two brothers, William of the Canadian Active Army and now stationed at Dundurn, Sask., and Wilfred at home. He is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Sebasto;poJ. His regimental number is A82290, and overseas he is attached to the 3rd Canadian Infantry Reinforcement Unit.
