The home of Dr. Michael Steele from 1888-1922, on the corner of Hope and Mogk Streets, was built in the Italianate style, featuring a centre gable highlighted by a round window and quotient brickwork. Built in 1885 by Dr. J.P. Rankin, the Stratford Beacon reported: “1885-05-08 p1 - Dr. Rankin is moving into a handsome new residence four doors west of Zoellner's drug store.”
