Excerpts of a story from the April 12, 1900 Gazette follow.

The brick and tile yards of F.W.Entricken were visited by a Gazette reporter on Tuesday of this week. The machinery was not in operation but the men, fifteen in number, were all busily engaged.
The Entricken brick yards are known far and near for the proprietor, in addition to having things right up to date in the matter of machinery and equipment, has a great advantage over other yards in having both red and white clay close togeher. Pracitcally anything in the line of tile and brick can be got at these yards.
There are three large kilns, each having a capacity of some 80,000 bricks. Eight kilns of tile have been burned this season and four of brick. It is expected that in all some thirty kilns will be burned this season.
The capacity of these yards is enormous. Last week 22,000 bricks per day passed through the machinery to the drying hacks. Hacks is a technical term. We would have called them sheds. The hacks will hold 215,000 bricks. From 1,000 to 11,000 feet of tile can be manufactured per day. It all depends on the size of the tile.
This year more red brick is being made as there is more demand for that colour. Mr. Entricken has two teams on the road all the time delivering brick and tile.
Approaching the brick yards one cannot help noticing the enormous amount of soft wood. About 1,000 cords of 4 foot wood will be used this season.
Mr. Entricken was also noted for his ownership of the great racehorse "The Eel". He can be seen standing with 12 employees in his yards. He is the man on the right.
