The Hickson Cheese & Butter Company began as the Strathallan Cheese & Butter Manufacturing Company. It moved to Hickson so that it was closer to the railroad for shipping its cheese.

Sometime between January of 1908 and November 1912 the name was changed to Hickson Cheese and Butter Company. It was taken over by Borden’s in 1925 and they made powdered milk until 1928 when it became a receiving plant. It was demolished in 1976.

The building was located on the north side of Loveys Street / Oxford Road 8 east of what was once the old railway tracks. A section of the tracks is now the Hickson Trail beside Hickson Park.
