Comments: Arthur enlisted when he was 24. He received his secondary education at Stratford Collegiate Institute. He graduated from University of Toronto in 1914 with first class honours in mathematics and received his M.A. degree the following year. In 1916 he graduated from the Ontario College of Education and was appointed Mathematical Master in Moose Jaw Collegiate Institute, where he taught for 2 years. He then enlisted in the C.O.T.C. and proceeded with the Canadian troops to Siberia, where he remained until the Armistice. In September 1919 he was appointed to the staff of Windsor Collegiate, which position he held until his death.
