Christian Friedrich Conrad Krug (1843-1925)
Born July 4, 1843 in Gartow, Province of Hanover, Germany, son of Henry Krug and Louise Martens. settled in Canada, Berlin (Kitchener) and worked for "Bauernfreund" newspaper in Waterloo under Jacob Teuscher. Jan. 1860 moved to Tavistock (Inkerman) and accepted a position as clerk in the log store of Jacob Wagner. June 17, 1867 married Jane Stewart, daughter of Duncan Stewart. 1870 started commercial business for himself. 1872 entered into partnership with Adam Falk. (Messrs Krug & Falk contemplate extending and improving their premises by the erection of 2 large warehouses alongside of their shop. - Beacon Aug. 7, 1874). (Before 1878 did $4,000 worth of renovations). (1878 bought Milling Co. for $700 - it had burnt - and he and John Zimmerman bought the lots for the siding for $450. Sold to A.E. Ratz for $1.00 in 1886). 1884 took sole possession of general store business (from Falk). 1885 appointed postmaster. Sept. 1896 built final addition to store. July 7, 1917 sold Glasgow Warehouse to Adam Roth, Edward Roth, Percy Armstrong, Charles Kaufman. Died February 30, 1925.
