Pte. Kenneth Currah Completed Course
Pte. Kenneth Currah, 20, Tavistock, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Currah, and serving in Korea with 2nd Battalion Black Watch (Royal Highland Regt.) of Canada recently completed a signals training course at Headquarters 25th Canadian Infantry Brigade. He has been serving in the Canadian Army for l5 months and has been in Korea for seven months. Designed to further adapt him to the conditions under which Watch Signals personnel operate in the Far East theatre, he was taught radio procedures peculiar to the Korean campaign. Commencing with the fundamentals of signals communications, the course emphasized procedure while speaking over the air, use of codes, operation of various patterns of transmitting aid receiving sets, and several other related subjects in the field of wireless and line communication.
After spending days in the classroom under expert Royal Canadian Corps of Signals instructors, he got a chance to test his technical knowledge under practical conditions during a two-day exercise over the rugged Korean terrain. The manoeuvre stressed communications with troop formations, use of standard military phrases employed in voice transmission, and familiarization with the various types of radio instruments he wiII operate.
