Seen from the left is the Commercial Hotel and Malcolm's Mill. The covered weigh scales burned in 1900 and the bandstand was removed in 1902. To the right if the Romanesque tower of the Arlington Hotel, and the Bauer Hotel. At right are the accumulation of buildings that mark the spot of Tavistock's first log building.
Stratford Beacon: 1887-11-04 - The Foresters have acquired the "old mill" and intend to make it into a "court house". The club has 50 members at present.
Tavistock Gazette - March 28, 1901: Mr. John R. Gingerich has bought the old frame buildings opposite the Commercial and on Saturday he proceeded to pull down the smaller one.
