UNIQUE CLOCK. Tavistock Gazette 28 June 1900 page 1

A GAZETTE reporter called on J. K. Lemp one day last week and was shown a large clock which Mr. Lemp has made. For about two years his spare time was used in making this clock, the case of which is 8 ft. high, 3 ft. wide, with a thickness at the base of 17 inches and at the top of 12 inches. The case is entirely finished in polished and carved oak, and is a handsome piece of furniture, the lower part being need as a sort of cupboard. The case enclosing the works is all on hinges—both sides—and may be opened out, so that the works can be easily oiled; yet the clock is as much dustproof as is any other one. All the wheels, made of steel, the axles of which have ball bearings, were made by Mr. Lemp himself. The clock keeps correct time; in a word it is a wonder. The clock is an eight-day one ; tells the day of the month, the hour and the minute. There are two faces, each 20 inches in diameter. Each weight weighs 50 lbs.
